One day, while my daughter was happily distracted in her own marker drawings, I decided to risk pulling out a new sketchbook I had special ordered.  It had dark paper, and was perfect for adding highlights to.  I had only drawn a little in it, and was anxious to try it again, but knowing our daughter’s love of art supplies, it meant that if I wasn’t sly enough, I might have to share.  (Note:  I’m all about kid’s crafts, but when it comes to my own art projects, I don’t like to share.)  Since she was engrossed in her own project, I thought I might be able to pull it off.

Learn Move Play Ground II

For the past 12 days I’ve taken part in the amazing Learn Move Play Ground II project.

The project is initialised and organised by the GUC, Architecture and Urban Design Program / baladilab in cooperation with the University of Siegen and UNHCR. The project is fully financed by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service.

36 Egyptian and German students participated in this project. The aim of this project was to improve the playgrounds of two schools, the Asmaa Bint Abi Bakr School, New Cairo and the Shajarat Al Durr School, Islamic Cairo.

In order to take part in this project, I had to skip ten days of college. I was reluctant to apply at first but what I’ve learned during LMPG II is way more important than what I would have learned in a month of college.

Winterschool Designbuild Studio: Learn-Move-Play-Ground 2 is over! here some pics

The project is initialised and organised by the GUC, Architecture and Urban Design Program / baladilab in cooperation with the University of Siegen and UNHCR.
The project is fully financed by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service. The Winter School aimed at improving the courtyards of two schools in Cairo, Asmaa Bint Bakr School in New Cairo and in the Shagarat Al Durr School in Islamic Cairo.
For 12 days, 36 students from Egypt and Germany worked together with the children, teachers of the schools and the team, to find out how to translate the dreams of the children in playing elements.
